Catamount Stoneworks -- A wall in a field, with trees

The Wall in the Field

This is a prime example of a wall that we built in Plainfield, NH, from stones loosely piled from land tilled many years ago.

Masons tend to develop certain styles of construction. This picture exemplifies my own particular penchant for putting large blocky stones into the face or visible surface of the wall. I feel that this breaks up the regularity of the small stone pattern and adds character to the wall.

This short wall section was built in Woodstock, VT and is actually a section of a longer wall. There is a small set of steps that can be see to the right of this section.
